Here we have the SOOC of a beautiful tiger. He was in some dappled light that made a little spot light on his face. I tried to expose for the brighter parts of the photo, there are some blown out highlights in the ground. In the first round of corrections I warmed up the WB (Shh. this was back when I shot on auto WB, lol). I lowered the highlights, and added some contrast and matte.
But it wasn’t enough, I wanted to play on the dramatic effect and deepen some of the background to get more focus on the tiger. I hadn’t planned on using this in my PRO application set, but something about it called to me and after I converted it to BW and burned the ground, I really really liked it.
Does it ruin the photo too much if you find out the tiger was only super serious because he was about to go to the bathroom? I either seem to get that, or they turn around and give me the rear end shot.
