“Light yourself on fire with passion and people will come from miles to watch you burn.” – John Wesley
(I came across that quote this week while reading this fabulous post from David DuChemin.)
I am passionate and I am driven by a force that is so deep inside me it is not stoppable. I don’t do things in moderation, because I feel a fire and cannot stop until I put the flames out.
I give 100% of my soul in whatever I do. I am an admin on a photography community, in a pro prep group of over 70 members, and I donate hundreds of hours to the community. I do a lot of critique work. I do a lot of motivation and inspiration work. And I do a heck of a lot of cheerleading. Because I want you to succeed. I do not feel competition. I do not succumb to any school of thought that says there are limited seats. I believe there is room at the table for anyone who is willing to do the work. It might not be a conventional way you get there, but if you want it, and if you are willing to fight for it, you can make it happen.
The downside to this is that I am sensitive. I do find that not all people are created equal. I find that there are people who are more self serving, and not very honest in their intentions. There are people who gossip. There are people who are willing to use or abuse their friendships to get ahead. And there are people who are not honest or professional.
And there is rejection. Man is there rejection. How many times in life can you get rejected? It certainly gives you those opportunities continually! But, think of how many successes there have been too. Think of how many “yeses” could have been “nos” but weren’t.
In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer. –Albert Camus
I have it in me. And you have it in you. Find that well of inspiration. Find that drive. Harness that energy and climb on board. Because it will get you far.
